A SNEAKER CARE GUIDE FOR MEN

Men, we know shoe wear is an exceptional case for you. We know how much you love your casual sneakers and how much you adore showing them off. Sneakers are one versatile bit of a fashion piece that can be easily worn with any attire nowadays. The sneaker industry is booming with new ideas popping up now and then, which makes it harder for everyone to keep up with all the trends passing through now and then, which brings us to the ultimate guide for the boys who nearly and dearly love sneakers.

Here is a basic guide for men’s casual sneakers:

CARE BEGINS AT THE VERY START:

As soon as you get your hands on those sneakers, it becomes a liability because these designer shoes come with minimal to low maintenance but in the end they still deserve attention. It may be minimum for example letting your shoes breathe in-between days but it’s always there and it is important to pay attention to the little things as well.

  • STUFF THEM UP:

Those sneakers won't retain the shape for long until you stuff them up with newspapers or, the foam which makes them stay in their natural shape for a much longer time. Stuffing also prevents those annoying creases and line marks which after a while become permanent. Stuffing reduces the risk of shoes falling apart or losing their grip from the moisture in the atmosphere.

  • ALTERNATE YOUR SHOES IN BETWEEN:

It is not just important but also necessary to keep switching your shoes between days. This will prevent them from smelling bad and keep them fresh with every wear. Alternating is important to let the shoes breathe. Wear your sneakers consecutively for a maximum of 3-4 days and let them breathe for a day or so to attain maximum comfort, otherwise, they will not only smell but also make you and everyone around you uncomfortable.

  • STORE THEM PROPERLY:

Storage has to be one of the biggest factors when it comes to maintaining the shoe’s health. Store your shoes in separate boxes with stuffing inside the shoes and wrap them in a dustbag because it prevents them from spreading soil and dust to the other shoe.

  • PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS:

Pay attention to minor details like laces and soles of the shoe. Take out both the shoe and the laces if you are planning to machine wash (which is not recommended by us). Pay attention to details for example if your sneakers are bedazzled or, have special details on the laces. These details can also be done on the laces or the front of the shoe, which may need special care.

  • TRY NOT TO MACHINE WASH:

A lot of the sneakers are truly machine washable but this is only the last option if you can not handle hand wash them. Machine washing them will ruin the interior and exterior of the shoe because let's face it, sneakers deserve delicate care and that doesn’t come with machine washing. Try to avoid machine washing as much as possible and push a little effort towards those sneakers because they deserve a little more than that.

  • DIY CLEANING:

DIY cleaning will save you from a lot of hassle. Make sure you complete your research before taking any action towards your footwear because a lot of the DIYs have the high potential of just not working and worse, leaving a stain that might just become permanent. This leaves us to using very minimal DIYs like baking soda or baby powder to avoid the smell. Several other DIYs suggest using only water and dishwashing soap to avoid staining. There is always a possibility of things going wrong or your shoe could just get foggy with all the dusty water or soap, so we recommend only get those expensive sneakers to get cleaned by a professional who knows what they are doing.

  • AIR DRY AND DRY BRUSH:

It may come as a surprise but half of your shoe problems will be solved, by just letting your shoe air dry to let them breathe on and off and in-between days. Dry brushing will prevent lines and wrinkles on your shoes and get the excess dust off. We also highly recommend keeping separate brushes for separate shoes. If you have shoes that require polish, especially keep separate brushes for every color. Faux color shoes will require extra attention every day but they also manage to look very classy and modern with every wear.

  • PRODUCT USE:

Several companies offer extensive shoe care and supply great quality products to keep your shoes in a top-notch condition. Product usage is not always recommended but is great to avoid messing up the shoe more. Use the foam and liquid products to clean the extras of the sneakers like its laces and sole which play a very important part when it comes to the comfort of the shoe.

ENDING NOTE:

Taking care of your sneakers will not only prolong their lives but also keep them in great condition for years.
